A TRIBUTE TO YOU _HAPPY FATHER’S DAY_ TO ALL DADS, FATHERS & PAPAS

Yesterday we celebrated Father’s Day. A very special day for all Fathers.

God thought it so important that He chose Joseph to be the father of Jesus Christ, His Son. God wanted to provide examples of how families should live together through the example set by Joseph:-a loving, steadfast, faithful servant of God who followed His will by marrying Mary and raising God’s precious child JESUS CHRIST.

I no longer have my father with me, but I want to give tribute to him and my husband- a father of two girls (and a dog called Frenchie pictured below, who is our furry daughter, whom my husband still fathers LOL!!!! HAHAHA!) and to all fathers living or non living for the important role they have or have had, in bringing up their children.

I believe Fathers contribute in building stronger and happier children, families and communities.

I’m a believer that a child will always need a father throughout his/her lifetime. Fathers should never stop being a father and a child never becomes too old to need a father.

Being an educator I see first hand the important role of a father, keeping in mind that a child’s personality and demeanour is well formed by the age of five.  Fathers can provide a loving family and an environment of love and support for the mother of his children and for the whole family.

Students look at the examples set by their fathers.  Students hang on to their father’s every word.  Fathers can do no wrong in the eyes of their children. Fathers can educate and teach their children about life. Fathers can heal the heart of a child’s broken heart. Fathers can cheer up a child when they are down. Fathers can give blessings to their children. Fathers can protect and provide support to a child when they are young and later on in life. Fathers can set goals and limitations for a child to help them grow into responsible, world citizens.

But most of all, a father’s role as being a leader and to direct the path of every child they father.  Boys learn to be boys from the examples set by their fathers. Men learn to be men by the examples set by their fathers.  So how crucial is the role of a father?  I would say extremely crucial.

Fathers need to take their role seriously.  A parenting course may help them be better fathers. Getting on well with the mother of their children is also important because they should function as one.  That means setting goals, standards and parameters for their children together, so that they are uniform and followed by both the mother and the father, so that there is no misunderstanding between them and their children.

Saying NO to a child from a young age, is not a dirty word but a lesson in teaching their child to become a better person, a lesson in teaching their child to become a well rounded, balanced individual.

This is not saying that fathers don’t make mistakes, they do, we all do. We are all humans and all humans are flawed with biases, but as parents we should aim to be the best versions of ourselves so that we can raise the best versions of our children.

I do know people who have been hurt by their fathers and I feel very bad for them, however we should never make excuses for our poor judgement and actions. I know people who have had a difficult childhood but never gave up and have grown to be strong and influential fathers because they looked up to God for help and guidance.

My suggestion to those who have been hurt, is to never give up, ask for help and allow Father GOD to be your heavenly Father who is madly in love with  all His children.

A big thank-you to my husband and Father, who with love and support have raised great daughters and sons to be great people they are today.  My gratitude goes to God my heavenly Father, who has blessed me with my husband and earthly Father.

The Lord’s prayer below is the prayer that Jesus recited at that very dark moment in the garden of Gethsemane just before His crucifixion. This is a very special prayer because it is a prayer of repentance, forgiveness, redemption, praise, healing and hope.

RELIGION & MY LIFE SERIES- I LIVE BY THE K.I.S.S. PRINCIPLE

Image result for a happy and calm life

We all know what the acronym K.I.S.S. means (Keep It Simple Stupid)  to me it makes a lot of sense. This principle transcends generations and I believe I have learned it from my parents.

Now one might think it would be an easy thing to do, but it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe it gets easier as you start to internalise it and live it, because after a while it becomes natural, automatic. Here’s how I try to live my life and I don’t believe I have F.O.M.O. ( Fear Of Missing Out) either.

Image result for a happy and calm life

Praise & Worship……….I make God and His Son Jesus the centre of my life. I base my life on what Jesus would say, do and think.  I try to look at people the way Jesus would see them. The Lord has made the sabbath, a day of rest…that doesn’t mean I can’t work, if my job requires it. It means to make time for the Lord, communicating and thanking Him for everything in my life. To have quality, family time together. Spend time with my spouse and children, give them my undivided attention, make them feel loved and special.

Family….as a parent I have a responsibility to teach and correct my children. I don’t have to be their best friend but someone who cares enough to tell them of their shortcomings. I have a responsibility to ‘call it out’ when they are wrong without fear of repercussions. I have found that my children respect me anyway because they know that I acted out of love and respect for them. That I only wanted what was best for them and now as adults, they have come to appreciate that more and more. I have also tried to stay as friends with extended family members. Nothing is so bad that it can’t be forgiven, that amends can’t be made.

Technology…….I minimise the use of  computers and phones when I am with family and friends because I believe if they have made the effort to be with me I owe them my attention and respect and actually talk and communicate with them. My husband and I resisted giving our children technology ie. computers, laptops phones, electronic games etc. till they were well into their teens  and with supervised, limited time. I don’t wait for the latest version of I Phone, I Pad etc.. in technology, I stay with simplicity.

Cars….. I am driving my third Toyota 4 wheel drive Suzuki Grand Vitara which has no fancy gizmos, they are simple, smooth, reliable and never breakdown. The more sophisticated and hi tech the cars, the more likely to breakdown, cause delays and cost more to fix. A reliable, sturdy car for me is best.

Lifestyle……….I try to live by “Kingdom Principles.” I try to live my life for God. Sure I stumble and make mistakes but I pick myself up and keep going, knowing that God is there for me.  Sure friends can affirm me but God validates me not friends. Friends come and go and if they don’t lift me up and celebrate who I am, then I am wasting my time and theirs.

Mealtimes……….are sacred times for my family. From the start, mealtimes have become family time. A time to catch up and listen to each other after a day’s work. So every night we have had dinner together to share. The saying goes that….. “If a family eats together they stay together,” well that couldn’t be truer.

Finances……as a “Kingdom Builder” my money is not my own. It was earned with God’s help. The jobs I have had have been given to me by God. How??? God has aligned people to make it happen for me. So I give to the less fortunate and try to share what I have. i love the principle in there is more pleasure in giving than receiving.  Paying it forward is a great life lesson I have learned and it always comes back to me so I always have more that what I started with.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP…...is the way to live my life. Giving up is not in my vocabulary. I have never given up and I have learned to be creative and find solutions to my problems….. Ask, Seek, Knock Matthew 7:7-8 says  “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL MOTHERS

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY _SUNDAY, 13TH MAY

Image result for Mary mother of jesus motherly love

I love my mother, I love being a mother and I love seeing all mothers with their families. I feel great joy when fathers love their wives and the mothers of their children and then doing things together and sharing each other’s company.

I believe in the unique and significant gifts and roles mothers and fathers play in the upbringing of their children and God’s children.

I have a teaching background and I have taught thousands of children and I felt that the children entrusted to me were my children as well, so I taught and cared for them like a mother.  But the ones that stood out were the ones who demonstrated virtues of :_faith in God who is the almighty and all knowing Father in Heaven and the One who is unequalled and who is greater than them, hard work, openness to learn, respect, humbleness, assertiveness, inclusiveness and empathy.

Where do all these great virtues come from? Children learn what they live, how mothers treat their husbands, how husbands treat their wives and from the role models they have before them. The examples they experience are learnt from their parents and family members way before they reach school age. It’s not until they have learnt these fundamentals that they can express these virtues and share them with others.

Jesus is our role model, He was born of  Mother Mary with his foster father Joseph in a loving family. This is what we should aspire to, Jesus gave Mary to us to be our mother too. Mary mother of Jesus, brings her unique love, her sacrificing love in order to give us her SON Jesus. Mary was the greatest disciple of all, when the others fled because they were too scared at the end,  Mary remained steadfast and loved Jesus with her selfless love till His last breath and beyond.

My mother sacrificed a lot for me and my brothers and I have learnt a lot from her. My children respect my mother because they have learnt it from me-their mother and so the cycle goes on.

I don’t claim that raising children or having taught them was easy and many a time I found it extremely hard and challenging. But I never forgot what Mary went through and I always pray to her  that she be a mother to me and my children with her unique way of reaching to Her Son Jesus and God, as my greatest intercessor of all.

So, I salute all mothers from all different walks of life and ask God to bless them with all of their heart’s desires. I continue to ask Mary the mother of Jesus and the mother of us all, for her intercession in helping us raise strong families and strong children with their husbands and fathers together in a loving family, according to God’s plan. GOD BLESS ALL MOTHERS AND FATHERS

GOD HAS MADE US A FAMILY

When God created us, He created us to live in a family. Jesus lived with his foster father Joseph and his mother Mary. God never intended for us to live alone.

How do boys learn their masculinity? Boys learn to be boys through their fathers or father figures. How do girls learn their femininity? Girls learn to be girls through their mothers or mother figures. When that fatherly or motherly love is missing that can create a wound in our spirit which can manifest in different ways.

FAMILY DAY TODAY-THERE IS JOY IN STAYING TOGETHER

Life and education begin at home. The home is the primary and most vital factor in a child’s education and development into a mature and stable member of society. The first encounter with God for a newborn child is through the family. Children learn by listening and watching the parents, so good modelling is paramount.

When God gave the commandments to Moses, He directly devoted two of His ten great laws to protecting family relationships. In the 5th and 7th commandments, we see how important honoring parents and for parents to love, care and respect one another is, in maintaining a Christian family relationship.

The saying goes that a family who eats together stays together. We had lunch with my mother, coffee with my brother and ice-cream with my daughters and partner.

A great way to share and catch up with mutual respect for one another and then praising God for the gift of each other.(Exodus 20:12-14)

GOD HAS MADE US A FAMILY

A man and a woman would form a “one-flesh” union through marriage                       ( Gen. 2:24), and they with their children become a family, the essential building block of human society.images (1)

God gave us a family to live in because He didn’t want us to live alone.

A loving, caring and God centred Family is another extension of God and His love for mankind.

Prayer of an Expectant  Mother

Lord Jesus, I lovingly pray for this sweet hope
that I keep within my womb.
You have granted me the immense gift
of a tiny little life,
living in my own life,
and I humbly thank you for choosing me
as an instrument of your love.
In this sweet waiting,
help me to live in a constant attitude
of self-surrender to your will.

Grant me a motherly heart that is pure,
steadfast and generous.
I hand over to you my own concerns;
any anxious fears that may come,
my own wishes for the little person
that I still have no knowledge of.
Grant that it may be born healthy in body,
keep far from it every peril to its soul.

Mary, you have known
the ineffable joy of a holy motherhood;
give me a heart that can transmit an ardent, living
faith.
Sanctify my waiting,
bless this joyful hope that is in me,
grant that the fruit of my womb
may open out in virtue
and in holiness through your working
with that of your divine Son. Amen.

Prayer of a Mother   (if child is already born)

All loving God,
you created the human family
as a reflection of your own divine life
so that your creation might share in your happiness.

Father we thank you for your marvellous gift;
you have allowed us to share in your divine parenthood.
During this time of  growth
we ask you as a partnership, to nurture our child’s life.

Station your heavenly angels around our child                                                                   to protect and guide him/her.                                                                                               We ask that Jesus deliver him/her from harm and                                                           to bring him/her to the complete truth so as to bring glory to You Lord.

May our child learn to love You and                                                                                   Your Son Jesus Christ.  Amen.
