SHOULD MEDIA USE JESUS’ NAME IN VAIN TO ACHIEVE AN OUTCOME????

Image result for Jesus the merciful one

When I saw the commercial using the crucifixion of Jesus to promote organ donation, my blood boiled. Here’s why? I’m not against organ donations, people can donate as much as they want, this ad is so wrong that it doesn’t even give me the desire to want to donate my organs. I just don’t see the message but the evil that this ad is portraying.

I know the world has become more secular but there are still millions of people who hold the very name of Jesus dear and precious to their hearts. Jesus cared for us to the point of death, an excruciating death on a cross,  sacrificing himself for our salvation. I don’t know of any other God in any other religion who has given up his life. Jesus is unique, He holds the absolute, objective, moral truth.

I believe the ad about organ donations (see below) used by the media is demonic because it’s a direct attack on Jesus as it’s using deception by appealing to people for something that is good (donating organs) to degrade, belittle, trivialize and blaspheme the crucifixion.

Satan the ruin of souls roams this earth. Satan the one who looks for souls to devour  is alive and active in the world. Satan the master of deception hides behind the truth, masterful at tricking people. Satan will stop at no end, the media in one of them.  Satan uses bible scripture whom He knows well, to twist a little lie making it seem credible and attractive. But make no mistake, blaspheming, sinning by omission or association to not acknowledging Jesus as the Saviour, not defending the righteous one, is a grave sin- a sin punishable by God.

We need to show the media that they are wrong. The media doesn’t care about the truth, the media wants to rewrite the truth.  The media wants to desensitize us to accept their lies. All the media cares about is power and money.

There are millions of other ways to promote the cause, leave what is sacred alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please stop the media from overshadowing a positive and spreading evil about Jesus’ crucifixion.   By you not doing anything about this evil it’s saying that it’s OK, you then become complicit to the mortal sin because the media can have a huge demographic impact on people of little or no faith in Jesus.

A Prayer to Guard Your Heart

Lord God, Captain of my heart, Satan knows if I follow Your Greatest Commandment – to love You with all my heart, soul, and mind (Matthew 22:37) – he is powerless over me. Guard my heart, Lord Jesus, so that it beats for You alone. Don’t let me grow complacent toward You or be lured to love anyone or anything more than You. Remove the idols from my heart so that You alone command my allegiance and utmost affections Help me to love and forgive others as You have forgiven me so the enemy can get no foothold through hate or bitterness on my part. Cultivate in my heart Your love that “bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (>1 Corinthians 13:7, NASB). Finally, Lord, set my heart on things above, not on earthly things. Help me to remember that You died for me and my life is now hidden which Christ in God (>Colossians 3:1-2). Increase my longing for heaven so this world holds no power over me.           (courtesy of  http://www.Crosswalk.com )

50 days of Easter-How one weekend changed the world forever

E A S T E R _Our hope and our path to joy

THERE IS NO DEATH WHEN WE PUT OUR TRUST IN HIM

Image result for 50 days of easter

Because Easter is the most important feast in the Christian calendar, even more important than Christmas, the Easter season continues on for 50 days, through the Ascension of Our Lord to Pentecost Sunday, seven full weeks after Easter Sunday! 50 days to contemplate the joy that Jesus brought,  the hope for a better life with Him. The hope that we are not on our own to muddle through this mess we’ve got ourselves in.

When we surrender to the grace of God, He will help us. This doesn’t mean that pain will end, that problems won’t come, that death won’t touch us. But THAT EVERYTHING ON THIS EARTH WILL PASS. Everything that GOD HAS PROMISED WILL COME TO US. EVERYTHING with God’s stamp on it will be easier to endure, easier to cope with, easier to resolve.

Isn’t that why God gave us His Son Jesus, to lead us all to the Heavenly Father???? That’s where God wants us, that’s where we belong with our Father in heaven.

So, I say, shake off the blues, sorrow, hopelessness and believe in the one who is greater than this world and everyone or everything in it.

I can’t understand why many don’t aspire to this? It’s not that the alternative is better, it might leave you with some instant gratification but then comes the aftermath- the self pity, regret, hurt and destruction that the sin first enticed you with.

As St. John Chrysostom reminds us .. “Christ has destroyed death, and now is the feast of faith.”

CHI-RHO SYMBOL

The New testament was written in greek, hence the influence in art and orthodox symbols

One of the most common symbols in Christian art is the Chi-Rho. It is created by superimposing the first two letters (XP) of the Greek word for Christ, ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ.

The monogram (also called a “christogram”) primarily represents Jesus Christ, while also being a common representation of the crucifixion scene. It is similar in style to the Tau-Rho (T and P superimposed), but has a distinct origin        (courtesy of Aleteia).

Jesus has a divine and human nature. He started his ministry at the at of 30. As a man He grew in understanding of the divine person of Jesus Christ_ Son of God and Son of Man. The new Adam- the perfect man, son, friend, deity.

I love these images among others, but these are special because Jesus is smiling. It’s good to know that this life is not just about suffering but that a peaceful heart, a heart full of love and praise can bring about happiness and joy.

That happiness is not dependent on circumstances, it’s a decision we can make. This world is passing and whatever problem one may have there is a solution.          I believe that with God and Jesus in your heart, your troubles are halved and your blessings are doubled.

MARY MAGDALENE _THE MOVIE_ TOTAL DECEPTION AND FULL OF LIES

Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara are good actors but not right for this movie.
Image result for movie mary magdalene 2018Joaquin Phoenix an atheist himself, and Rooney Mara  brought nothing to the movie to render their roles credible. Neither actors have the soul to accurately portray the spirit of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. Bible truths were twisted and omitted out of scenes altogether.

There were many inaccurate parts to this movie and I will attempt to discuss some prominent ones.

Jesus played by Joaquin Phoenix is portrayed as a tortured soul and there was no softness and deity about Him at all. His face looked harsh and twisted and his eyes did not reflect the Son Of God- God incarnate. They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul, well, in this movie there is no soul.

The real Jesus has two natures a human and divine nature, of which I didn’t see any. In the movie, Jesus and Mary Magdalene had this exclusivity thing going on between them and their smirk was unreal. In real life they are a couple. The bible does not depict Jesus and Mary Magdalene in that way. There was no sexual connection between them. Jesus was solely focused on the will of God.

The twelve apostles are really insignificant in this movie and it makes Mary Magdalene the heroine and forerunner for the movement. Biblically, in Matthew 16, Jesus gives to Peter the keys of the kingdom. The Church was founded upon Peter, one among the twelve is chosen to lead. The movie ends with Mary Magdalene and a group of other women who get behind her, to lead instead.  Peter is very  judgemental and Mary leaves him and the other apostles very disgruntled which is untrue.

Palm Sunday was really insignificant in this movie, Jesus does not enter Jerusalem on a donkey, instead He walks in with a face full of angst.  In the bible (Matthew 21) Jesus’  humble entrance on a donkey into Jerusalem clearly illustrates that God is humble. Shortly afterwards, the movie shows the money lenders outside the temple as a marketplace,  I have never seen a more angry Jesus being very destructive and pulling walls and balustrading down with his bare hands. In the bible, Jesus shows an angry outburst against corruption by turning tables upside down and cleansing that area. (Jn 2:13-25)

In the movie, the agony in the Garden of Gethsemane scene, was very inaccurate. Jesus didn’t ask the apostles to keep watch, Jesus is not agonising over what was to come and there was no communication with Father God. It didn’t show Jesus’ fear and human nature and how He deals with his agony. There was no cutting of the servant’s ear. In John 18, Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. These events are really important as they depict the gentleness, the human and divine natures of Jesus.

The Last Supper being the crucial part in the bible, where Jesus washes the disciples’ feet to show that we should be like servants for one another, was not depicted at all. The “upper room discourse” (John 14-16) and how Jesus through prayer, instituted The First Eucharist as the real presence in the bread and the wine of Jesus’ body in communion,  was omitted.

Good Friday has many flaws in the movie, Mary the mother of Jesus was hardly there and yet she was the steadfast woman disciple of Jesus from beginning to end. The women didn’t even meet Jesus on his way to Calvary, Veronica didn’t even wipe his face. The conversion of Simon of Cyrene  and his bearing of the Cross for Christ  which is dramatic because he suddenly walked to Jesus to help him carry his cross didn’t happen  It failed to show conversion of ordinary people.

The other two thieves crucified beside Jesus weren’t really visible and the dialogue between the good thief and Jesus was not mentioned. The good thief’s dialogue with Jesus was an act of profound and public confession, contrition, and repentance for his sins and Jesus forgave him and took him to heaven with him. FORGIVENESS AND REPENTANCE ARE TWO IMPORTANT GOSPEL TEACHINGS OF JESUS but they weren’t important enough to be shown. If not for our salvation which only comes through Jesus Christ, what’s the point of this movie? Could it be for the attack and blasphemous attempt to discredit The Son of God, the Son of Man? Could it be to raise the power of women and to diminish the power of men, when we re all equal in the eyes of God?

This and other biblical movies should not be written without consultation from theologians of biblical truth. Nobody makes movies about Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism or other religions, why? Would it be because of riotous consequences that would follow? These movies unfortunately, can do a lot of damage to undiscerning minds, to people who are searching and beginning their faith journey.

I say beware of false information, get your sources right, ask people who are practicing the true religion for the whole truth and beware of “Hellywood” as The Vigilant Christian sais.

I will finish by saying that Jesus is the authority, Jesus is the lawgiver, he humbly came to earth to teach us the truth in order to save us. In the bible, people flocked to Him, people couldn’t get enough of Him. In the movie, people were not part of the equation and  the depiction of Jesus showed a twisted and tortured soul which didn’t make me or anyone want to be near Him.  Satan knows the bible better than anyone else, his ploy is to use the truth and twist a lie to make you believe, he is the master of deception.

PRAYER
Dear Jesus,

I believe that You came into this world as the Son of God, that You are God incarnate. Through your Holy Spirit, expose the darkness and bring us into the light. Protect our minds and hearts from what we see and hear and from Satan’s attacks. I believe that You are our saviour and redeemer and You sacrificed your life because You loved us first. Please make us worthy of your sacrifice. AMEN

Celebrities who are Catholic

I don’t know where I would be without my faith right now.                                              Just like everybody else, I am not immune to the trials and tribulations of life, the ups and downs, the bad and the ugly times. But I honestly say that my faith has helped me have hope, see things clearer, brought me comfort, solved problems and kept me on the narrow and straight path as much as I can.

This doesn’t mean that I am perfect, far from it,  but I aspire to the teachings of Jesus Christ and when hard times come, I pray and the answer comes.

I love hearing about celebrities who have kept their faith, it must be harder for them been in Hollywood and in front of the media, but they are testimony that you can have both fame and aspire to being godly.

THE STATIONS OF THE CROSS (VIA CRUCIS) THE EVENTS OF GOOD FRIDAY

After having just come back from a church prayer service on last Friday night to pray the stations of the cross or “Via Crucis,” for my lenten preparations, I couldn’t help but think of what Jesus went through and what He must be feeling right now.

People who have forgotten about Jesus and how He ransomed his life for ours,  those who don’t pray, attend prayer services or go to Mass and blatantly say that it’s old fashioned and that it’s not done anymore. Since when did Jesus become old fashioned?  When do we stop giving Jesus the praises He so deserves?

I remember as a child going to church during Lent for “The Stations of the Cross” and the church was full, now  a fraction attend. I remember when everybody I knew was fasting, savouring, being more attentive to another’s needs, move giving of their time etc. and then waiting for the day of celebrating in the joy of Easter Sunday with friends and family. It was the best!!!!!!! Now we don’t wait for anything, we live in a click and go society where everything is almost instant.

Image result for stations of the cross images

I have sometimes felt that when things get a little hard friends often don’t hang around because they don’t know what to say, feel awkward, it’s too hard or they’re embarrassed about your situation. It’s at these times when we need our friends the most, that they walk away. That’s exactly what happened to Jesus during that week of death at Easter-betrayal, rejection, disapproval and denial.

Image result for John 3:16

Over 2000 years have passed since Jesus walked this earth and we haven’t learnt from past mistakes. It is very apparent that the world is becoming more and more secular? There is a growing indifference to the sacrifices Jesus made for our salvation? Lack of those basic values of worship, prayer, courtesy, respect, savouring, waiting for your turn, allowing others to go before you etc, those basic values that have all come from gospel values and have held us in good stead for a long time, but all of a sudden, they have become old fashioned and not cool.

Let’s just stop and think for a minute. When Jesus challenged the thinking of the Pharisees,  he became an enemy of Caesar.  Caiaphas the high priest couldn’t wait to get rid of Jesus. Life was supposed to continue as it always had with no deviations or challenges, God’s rules and to another way of life was not attractive or feasible to them,  with Jesus crucified, dead and buried, they would just cancel Him out altogether. But isn’t that what we do to Jesus all over again???

(Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’(Mat. 25: 45)

Treating others with contempt because they’re different, accusing them as guilty before proven innocent, trialling people by media, embarrassing and belittling people on national TV.  Sacking them because they have a point of view that is contrary to the leadership team. People’s private lives are aired on national TV for others’ amusement, people who have to fess up for their private indiscretions to make peace with the public in order to protect the club, place of work etc…. and then, all the bullying and sly remarks that follow, that’s pretty horrid stuff I would think! My point been, that we have become so indifferent to other people’s feelings and needs that we are willing to step over them and treat them disrespectfully at all cost. But isn’t that what happened to Jesus???????????????????????? Make no mistake, what we do unto others we do unto God.

Jesus was rejected, thrown out of the city, disowned and crucified precisely so that the powers of Caesar would increase while the power of Jesus would decrease.

On the cross, we see how hateful to the world and how thoroughly rejected is the teaching and the person of Christ. Even in the inscriptions on the cross INRI mock Jesus, insinuating that He is the King of the Jews ( and not much of a king at that because He couldn’t even save Himself).

Most of us would like to think that we can trust our political parties and institutions to look after our interest and serve all our needs just fine, as long as we don’t make too many waves or hope for too much, all will work out in the end. Really?????????? What’s changed since Jesus’ mockery, his degrading execution, since his painful death , which He didn’t even have to endure by the way.

Even the good thief crucified beside Jesus took hope from the good that he saw from Jesus and asked in the share in whatever Jesus had to give. “Jesus remember me,” the good thief prayed and that’s exactly what we pray during the Good Friday liturgy. Jesus the”Good Shepherd” that He is having found the one sheep that was lost, put him on his shoulders rejoicing and carried him home.

But all was not lost! Jesus defied Caesar, Caiaphas and all the authorities. Even the centurion converted after having witnessed Jesus’ sincerity.

NEW LIFE THROUGH DEATH, THAT’S GOD’S PROMISE. CAN ANYONE BEAT THAT?

To answer the title question, Jesus is always there for us in the good, bad, hard and stressful times of our lives.  We need do nothing to deserve the love of God and Jesus, just faith.

I leave you with these thoughts and you can take what you wish from them.                +Is Jesus still relevant today?                                                                                        +Should we be more concerned with what we want or with what we ought to do?+Should we plan for our salvation?                                                                                   +Are the things we want a right?

Prayer / Reflection

 The Greatest Man in History,

Jesus, had no servants,

Yet they called Him, ‘Master’.

He had no degree,

Yet they called Him, ‘Teacher’.

He had no medicines,

Yet they called Him, ‘Healer’.

He had no army,

Yet kings feared Him.

He won no military battles,

Yet He conquered the world.

He committed no crime,

Yet they crucified Him.

He was buried in a tomb,

Yet He lives today.

COME LORD JESUS!

TEMPTATION – THE ULTIMATE BETRAYAL

This post comes from the gospel of Mark 1:12-15  because this is what Jesus went through leading up to Easter- the temptation in the desert. I have called this the ultimate betrayal because that’s what satan does with his empty promises. He betrays you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Image result for Mark 1:12-15

Temptation comes to all of us and there is a very appealing side or instant gratification to it, otherwise we wouldn’t be tempted. But have you ever stopped to think of the consequences of temptation?

Desires……  we all have them and they come to us often and sometimes instantly. Have you ever heard that soft voice that only you can hear?? It’s often those split second decisions that can make or break us. But are these desires a right when they’re going to break God’s laws and affect you and other people in a negative way??????????? I don’t think so!

You may think, oh well nobody will find out!!! But God knows and eventually the darkness will come into the light!

Desires aren’t all bad. You know the desires are for good when they are in keeping with Jesus’ teachings, when they’re aligned with God’s will, when they bring glory to God.

If you’re not sure, then ask God to show you what is right and wrong in a way that you understand. Keep in mind that if there is unforgiveness, unrepentance and lack of faith, they become blockages to hearing that soft voice from God.

Repentance, forgiveness and prayer can align you with God’s will.

Jesus went into the desert for 40 days, He was tempted by satan, He was hungry, He was thirsty, He was lonely as He had nothing and the temptation was strong, so strong that Jesus was weakened by it, weakened by the Satan’s attack on Him. But Jesus knew of Satan’s empty promises, He fought the temptation.

Imagine if Jesus had given into temptation???? Jesus’ integrity and credibility would have been compromised. There would have been no death on the cross,  no resurrection and no new life for us for our eternal destination.

Jesus fully human and fully divine lead by example and chose to stand up for the truth. Jesus was comforted by angels after satan left Him.

The sad thing is that satan has many people believing that he doesn’t even exist. If you are one of those, you are deluding yourself. We live in a physical world and a spiritual world where satan is at war with God, there is a spiritual battle going on at all times, day and night. Stay awake and be alert!

Image result for stay awake be alert bible teaching

The same goes for us, satan is the master of deception, he’s in the business of ruining souls, destroying families especially the mothers because of their child rearing abilities and attacking the Fathers – the bread winners and caretakers of the family.

The more you give into temptation the stronger the hold Satan has over you. It leads to more temptation and to repeat the negative action.

These negative actions can become a problem or an addiction. How many criminals become repeat offenders? Drug addicts who keep on taking drugs even though they know it will destroy them?  Alcohol abusers who drink and drive? Compulsive liars who keep on lying to cover their tracks and then forget what they have said prior, bullies who keep on offending, adulterers who betray their spouses and families etc., etc., etc., how long is a piece of string???????????????????????

Image result for Mark 1:12-15

Life is a challenge! Life is a test! God does not force Himself upon us. His ways are gentle, God is the perfect gentleman. We plan for a new car, a new house, to travel, where to go on the weekend, what movie to watch, etc. Why not have a plan for eternity?

Avoid temptation at all cost, but when you give in to it repent and make amends immediately.

The Öur Father- the prayer that Jesus prayed in the garden at Gethsemane is a prayer that does have everything:-repentance, forgiveness and protection. If you pray the prayers below daily, they will help keep temptation away, because Satan hates prayer and worship to God.
