FAMILY AND FRIENDS DON’T BELIEVE IN YOU, DON’T BELIEVE IN GOD? HE CAN GIVE THEM A NEW HEART

I was born into the faith and I have had my share of ups and downs in life just like everybody else, I have questioned my faith at times too.  I can earnestly say that if it weren’t for my faith, I wouldn’t know where I’d be now. Today I am at peace because I know God is taking care of things for me and my family. I know God is working because He answers my prayers.

I’ve noticed that when people are at the end of their tether, they find themselves in great despair, that’s because they are working by their own power. God’s almighty power can help us through our trials and tribulations if we have faith and pray. He has given us His Son Jesus Christ to fight our battles, Jesus can command his angels and bring forth peace, joy, restoration and renewed faith. Jesus said……….   ” I am the way the truth and the life” (John 14:6)

I recently saw this great movie based on real life events see (other post under Movies:_”The case for Christ”) where the husband was an unbeliever and the wife started to believe in God when she met a nurse in a hospital who helped her child. Her search for God caused problems in their relationship, the husband preferred the old wife, but things started to change……… So this movie reminded me of a great bible quote (see below     EZEKIEL 36:26).                                                       Things changed when the wife prayed this bible quote. Similarly, if you have a family member or friend who doesn’t believe, pray the above bible quote and give them to God.Image result for A STONY HEART TO A HEART OF GOD

THIS IS WHAT IT MEANS……. A new heart; a renewed frame of soul, a disposition and mind changed from sinful to holy, from evil to good, from carnal to spiritual.

A new spirit: tells us what the new heart is…. a new holy frame in the spirit of man, which is put in him, not found in him; given to him, not wrought by his own power.

The stony heart;  that is hardened by the deceitfulness of sin; this evil heart shall be taken away, and this God will do, who only can do it.

Out of your flesh, put for the man,  that is, a heart different from the stony, hard heart, receiving the impress of God, as softened wax receiveth the impress of the seal.       ( Matthew Henry Bible Commentary)

THE CASE FOR CHRIST -MOVIE

HERE’S ALL THE PROOF YOU NEED, AN ATHEIST WHO COULDN’T DENY THE REAL JESUS CHRIST AND THE RESURRECTION, WHO ENDED UP AS A BELIEVER

set in Chicago in 1980

(above) actor – Mike Vogel who plays the role of Lee Strobel (see below)

From a true story on Lee Strobel’s real life experiences who went on to become a believer and pastor and then write books about Jesus Christ.  The movie addresses all the historical evidence and medical proof that Jesus Christ did die and that the resurrection was witnessed at different times by 500 people . One of the most compelling being Paul of Tarsus who was persecuting Christians and who became a believer himself and went on to write 13 letters which became books in the New Testament. I fully recommend it and it’s well worth watching.

I had never thought about what it might be like to not have a partner who doesn’t believe, until now.

Not having a partner who shares the same beliefs as you, can have its challenges. It affects your relationship with that partner, your parents, friends, the way you bring up your children, your view of the world and your place in the universe and ultimately your final destination.

GOOD FRIDAY-HOW DO WE THANK SOMEONE WHO HAS GIVEN US EVERYTHING?

Today as I went to the Good Friday church service, this ancient hymn brought me to tears……(see words below-The Reproaches) They are the words of Christ crying out to His people for the injustices they showed Him after all the wonders God had performed for them. (Jesus being one with the Father)  Which one of us hasn’t felt or said these words at some time or another? Does this not show Jesus’ human nature?                          (taken from (Catholic Worship Hymn book 2)

The Reproaches:

My people, what have I done to you
How have I offended you? Answer me!

I led you out of Egypt,
from slavery to freedom,
but you led your Savior to the cross.

For forty years I led you
safely through the desert.
I fed you with manna from heaven,
and brought you to a land of plenty; but you led your Savior to the cross.

What more could I have done for you.
I planted you as my fairest vine,
but you yielded only bitterness:

When I was thirsty you gave me vinegar to drink,
and you pierced your Savior with a lance.

For your sake I scourged your captors
and their firstborn sons,
but you brought your scourges down on me.

I led you from slavery to freedom
and drowned your captors in the sea,
but you handed me over to your high priests.

I opened the sea before you,
but you opened my side with a spear.

I led you on your way in a pillar of cloud,
but you led me to Pilate’s court.

I bore you up with manna in the desert,
but you struck me down and scourged me.

I gave you saving water from the rock,
but you gave me gall and vinegar to drink.

For you I struck down the kings of Canaan.
but you struck my head with a reed.

I gave you a royal scepter,
but you gave me a crown of thorns.

I raised you to the height of majesty,
but you have raised me high on a cross.
My people, what have I done to you?
How have I offended you? Answer me!

OUR RESPONSE

Holy is God!
Holy is God!
Holy and strong!
Holy and strong!
Holy immortal One, have mercy on us.
Holy immortal One, have mercy on us
Dear Jesus,
Forgive us our sins , it is for all our sins and the sins of the world, that have put you on the cross. Forgive us for we do not know what we are doing. Please turn our hearts toward you and may we never forget your sacrifice that was paid for our lives. AMEN.

THE MASS- OUT OF DATE? NECESSARY OR NOT?

Many non-Catholics do not understand the Mass. They say that the Mass is a “jumble of medieval superstitions.” That it’s steeped in tradition which is irrelevant for today’s world, that it no longer fits in, that it’s boring, that it’s a waste of time.

Well!!!!!!!!!! If investing in their salvation is a waste of time, they are gambling at high stakes . What if they’re wrong? 50/50% right or wrong!! Too high the risk, too high the FEMO (fear of missing out) for me. Let’s look at what the authority says….

Vatican II puts the Catholic position succinctly:

“At the Last Supper, on the night he was betrayed, our Savior instituted the Eucharistic Sacrifice of his Body and Blood. He did this in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the centuries until he should come again, and so to entrust to his beloved spouse, the Church, a memorial of his death and resurrection: a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a paschal banquet in which Christ is consumed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us” (Sacrosanctum Concilium 47).

Jesus’ final night with his disciples. Turning to the text, we read, “And he took bread, and when he had given thanks he broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me’” (Luke 22:19).

The Catholic Church does not teach that the Mass is a re-crucifixion of Christ, who does not suffer and die again in the Mass and thus commemorates the sacrifice of the cross, reenacts it symbolically and mystically, and applies the fruits of Christ’s death upon the cross to individual human souls.

The Catholic Church specifically says Christ does not die again—his death is once for all. Through his intercessory ministry in heaven and through the Mass, Jesus continues to offer himself to his Father as a living sacrifice, and he does so in what the Church specifically states is “an unbloody manner”—one that does not involve a new crucifixion.

Note that Jesus gave us an order, that was, to do it in memory of Him, because in doing so we are giving glory to HIM. We are telling the enemy that Jesus is the one who saves not Satan! Jesus paid a ransom for our lives, Jesus quashed death once and for all. Through the mass we are making a strong statement to Satan, telling him that we belong to the body of Christ. We are Jesus’. That Satan has no power over us. Jesus has won the battle and that we are HIS.  By eating and drinking Jesus’ body in communion with Him, we are becoming the body of Christ.

There are miracles attributed to the body of Christ, where Jesus gives us evidence (please see previous posts) click here  https://fathergodlovesyou.com/2016/04/20/bleeding-host-miracle-under-investigation/

WOW!!!!!Which other God has done that? Which other God has sacrificed his life for us? Which other God has promised that He would never leave us or abandon us? Which other God is still active today performing miracles to those who invoke His name? To those who have faith? To those who pray? To those who communicate with Him? To those who honour God through the mass? I don’t know any do you?

So, if you want to align yourself with the one who died to know you, who died to save you, who died to redeem you, who died to exalt you and to spare you from eternal damnation, then the mass becomes a time when God gives grace and favour, where we obtain protection from the evil one. So the mass then should be a time to give back to Jesus for the most beautiful unselfish act of love one could offer you – HIS LIFE.

Thomas Aquinas wrote the words to this ancient hymn.

JUST IN TIME FOR EASTER

Image result for jesus'cross is our crossImage result for jesus'cross is our cross

As we enter these last days of Lent, how have you brought honour and glory to Jesus our Lord and God? If the answer is not much, it’s not too late to make some adjustments before we ponder on His sacrifice of the cross for our redemption.

Before Jesus died and rose to new life, there was no heaven. Jesus chose the cross so that we may too enter into His new life in heaven, He went before us to open the gates of heaven. Prior to that, people who had died had visions of heaven awaiting their Saviour in Jesus Christ. Jesus descended into hell and took all his faithfuls with Him. 634 “The gospel was preached even to the dead.”484 The descent into hell brings the Gospel message of salvation to complete fulfilment. This is the last phase of Jesus’ messianic mission, a phase which is condensed in time but vast in its real significance: the spread of Christ’s redemptive work to all men of all times and all places, for all who are saved have been made sharers in the redemption.635 Christ went down into the depths of death so that “the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.”485 Jesus, “the Author of life”, by dying destroyed “him who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and [delivered] all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong bondage.”486 Henceforth the risen Christ holds “the keys of Death and Hades”, so that “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.”487( Catechism of the catholic church)

We cannot buy our way into heaven because we sin and resin all the time, but by God’s grace He can lift us up and raise us into his Kingdom through Jesus Christ, who paid the price for our life on the cross.

So, what can you do for these last days of Lent? Here are some suggestions:-Pray, attend church services, give your time to help a friend, fast from food, meat, sweets, chocolate(or any food that you love), using your phone or internet less and spend time with others who need you, visit someone in hospital, donate to the poor, do something special for someone without been asked, in other words open your heart to others, just as Jesus did.

It’s not always about what we can get for ourselves but how we can give back to Jesus for His greatest sacrifice of HIs love. No other God has lived for that, no other God has died for you, no other God has risen to new life, like Jesus has for YOU!

The Power of the Word

Image result for jesus and the children clipart
I’m in a privileged position as a teacher of 9 year old students in a christian school. I understand the power of the word, I understand the inquisitive and impressionable minds I have facing me everyday, hanging on my every word.

I often spend hours planning and finding just the right word, bible reference, youtube clip, game, activity that which will inspire and nurture the growing and inquisitive minds before me.

Now please know,  that my timetable dictates when and what I teach, so all subjects get their designated quota, Religion, Social and Emotional learning are also explicitly taught.

As a teacher, you carry a reputation around the school and mine is the God one and the hard one!!!! I’d like to think I have a fair but firm approach. I feel joy when I see students who show respect towards one another and the teacher before them. I feel joy when the students take risks and make mistakes in order to learn, I feel joy when they have discipline to do the hard things because there is intrinsic value in it. I feel joy when much progress and improvement are made. All this has carried me through many years of teaching over different schools.

Five weeks ago I started the year off with a group of 26, made up of boys and girls. As an experienced teacher, within a couple of days I had eyed my class out and picked the ones who stood out for different reasons. However, there was one student who stood out amongst all the rest. From the start, he kept calling out, distracting others, he had a serious look on his face, as if to say YEAH!!!! and what can you teach me, I’m pretty smart already and I don’t even have to try very hard?

From the beginning, during Religion lessons, I told the whole class how wonderful they were, that they are all unique and individual, that they all have God given talents, that they’re all uniquely packaged, each with their own special gifts. I told them that Jesus is their best friend, that Jesus would be beside them everyday they asked Him to help them………………… I got stunned silence.

I have told them that their thoughts and feelings show in their expressions and body language, that good thoughts translate into happy faces, faces that are at peace, that their inner beauty shines outwardly, that they have Jesus’ spirit in them and that Jesus’s spirit shines out of them.

Now as a teacher, I repeat words and phrases, I fashion them in different ways so that the students internalise them and make them their own. All the while, faces have been twisting and turning and eyes rolling, as if to say, who believes that??????? I have kept going and if anything, I have tried harder…………. because I know that it’s when I teach Religion and the values found in the gospel of Jesus Christ, that I see things change. Jesus keeps His word. I know Jesus listens and answers prayers.

Well!!!!!!Haven’t the pages turned????

Yesterday, I started seeing their faces change into little smiles almost into approval. I have started seeing students walk with their heads up high. Why you might ask? I know why! They were warming to the friend they have in Jesus. In a short time, I have started seeing a change and I owe it all to Jesus, the one who brings love, friendship, hope, life and joy to any situation.

Oh by the way,  the student who stood out the most, the one with his face twisted, the one who knew it all, the skeptical one, I saw him yesterday go to my bible and then ask me  how to search the numbers because he wanted to learn for himself, he asked me with a big smile, but my smile was bigger that his.

Praise the Lord! All honour and glory is Yours, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Where do you get your validation from?

What I see today is many people who look for approval from their peers, it’s not necessarily a bad thing but consider this. To a degree we all have biases, a certain unfulfilled ambition, unresolved issues, disappointments, judgements and problems that can all cloud our judgements and decisions when we look to our peers for advice and validation.

Image result for validation from God not peers

Our peers may be  people who may have a wealth of knowledge but may be experience or spiritually poor.  Where are they in their journey to strive for the truth? So how can advice or validation from anyone be what we need, or be the answer to our problems?

Image result for validation from God not peers

I say we need validation from the higher one. The one who knew us before our parents had us, before the world even knew our name, before the world hated us for bearing his name.Image result for validation from God not peers

How do we get validation from God?  Make your path straight, repent, forgive, pray, give, acknowledge, praise, worship the one who died to know you. We ask for the answers we need and wait to hear from Him. Try it! It works!

MAY YOUR JOURNEY FOR THE TRUTH BE A PEACEFUL AND RIGHTEOUS ONE!
