HELLYWOOD AND AWARD NIGHTS

A TV award winning show was on during the week and the hosts publicly blasphemed the name of Jesus Christ. They said and I quote….” only republicans and ex-crack heads say thank-you to Jesus Christ” this and among other distorted and horrible remarks, were witnessed by a large live audience made up of Hollywood stars who clapped and laughed at all this and witnessed by home viewers covering a large world demography   Click right utube link to award night

I was so offended by this, that they would reduce Jesus Christ who sacrificed his life for our salvation to a joke, something to laugh at and to be used for entertainment. SHAME ON THEM!!!!

I know who I am and where I am going. One might say that not everybody believes. Sure! God doesn’t force Himself upon anyone and He has given us all a free will. Yes, but an evil, a sin has still be committed and worse, a sin that spans across a wide demography.  God makes it possible for everyone to find Him. At the end, there will be no excuse.  But judgement day will come for all and what will God say? The first thing He will say is ….”what have you done with my Son Jesus Christ who sacrificed his life for you, so that you may be saved?”

We will all have to answer this question and we will all be judged according to the faith and works we have done in Jesus’ name.

So then, wouldn’t one rather be judged by God who is the almighty, all loving all knowing, all forgiving God for all mankind,  rather than be judged by men who are flawed, biased, indiscriminate and judgmental????  In Revelation 21: 27 it says….” nothing imperfect shall enter heaven

Before Jesus, there was no heaven, Jesus made it possible for us to enter into God’s kingdom- Jesus the mediator who makes the impossible possible through His death and resurrection is what we should all aspire to.

We should not be toying with our salvation. Salvation is for eternity!

A TRIBUTE TO YOU _HAPPY FATHER’S DAY_ TO ALL DADS, FATHERS & PAPAS

Image result for father's day prayer christian

Yesterday we celebrated Father’s Day. A very special day for all Fathers.

God thought it so important that He chose Joseph to be the father of Jesus Christ, His Son. God wanted to provide examples of how families should live together through the example set by Joseph:-a loving, steadfast, faithful servant of God who followed His will by marrying Mary and raising God’s precious child JESUS CHRIST.

I no longer have my father with me, but I want to give tribute to him and my husband- a father of two girls (and a dog called Frenchie pictured below, who is our furry daughter, whom my husband still fathers LOL!!!! HAHAHA!) and to all fathers living or non living for the important role they have or have had, in bringing up their children.

I believe Fathers contribute in building stronger and happier children, families and communities.

I’m a believer that a child will always need a father throughout his/her lifetime. Fathers should never stop being a father and a child never becomes too old to need a father.

Being an educator I see first hand the important role of a father, keeping in mind that a child’s personality and demeanour is well formed by the age of five.  Fathers can provide a loving family and an environment of love and support for the mother of his children and for the whole family.

Students look at the examples set by their fathers.  Students hang on to their father’s every word.  Fathers can do no wrong in the eyes of their children. Fathers can educate and teach their children about life. Fathers can heal the heart of a child’s broken heart. Fathers can cheer up a child when they are down. Fathers can give blessings to their children. Fathers can protect and provide support to a child when they are young and later on in life. Fathers can set goals and limitations for a child to help them grow into responsible, world citizens.

But most of all, a father’s role as being a leader and to direct the path of every child they father.  Boys learn to be boys from the examples set by their fathers. Men learn to be men by the examples set by their fathers.  So how crucial is the role of a father?  I would say extremely crucial.

Fathers need to take their role seriously.  A parenting course may help them be better fathers. Getting on well with the mother of their children is also important because they should function as one.  That means setting goals, standards and parameters for their children together, so that they are uniform and followed by both the mother and the father, so that there is no misunderstanding between them and their children.

Saying NO to a child from a young age, is not a dirty word but a lesson in teaching their child to become a better person, a lesson in teaching their child to become a well rounded, balanced individual.

This is not saying that fathers don’t make mistakes, they do, we all do. We are all humans and all humans are flawed with biases, but as parents we should aim to be the best versions of ourselves so that we can raise the best versions of our children.

I do know people who have been hurt by their fathers and I feel very bad for them, however we should never make excuses for our poor judgement and actions. I know people who have had a difficult childhood but never gave up and have grown to be strong and influential fathers because they looked up to God for help and guidance.

My suggestion to those who have been hurt, is to never give up, ask for help and allow Father GOD to be your heavenly Father who is madly in love with  all His children.

A big thank-you to my husband and Father, who with love and support have raised great daughters and sons to be great people they are today.  My gratitude goes to God my heavenly Father, who has blessed me with my husband and earthly Father.

The Lord’s prayer below is the prayer that Jesus recited at that very dark moment in the garden of Gethsemane just before His crucifixion. This is a very special prayer because it is a prayer of repentance, forgiveness, redemption, praise, healing and hope.

Birthdays – A matter of life and death

Image result for thank you lord for my birthday images

This weekend we had a huge banquet with my family and extended family consisting of four generations, to celebrate my birthday .

Birthdays remind us of why we’re born, of new life, of new beginnings.  My catholic faith allows me to believe that each person has a purpose in life, a God given purpose to do God’s work. Be that by serving God through your family, your work or lifestyle.

I was not worried about growing older but believing and reflecting on all the reasons to be grateful and for the events of the past year. It was a happy time to celebrate my birthday for a great year I have had.

At the top of my list —is my Catholic faith. Our faith does not change my realities of life, pain and death: They still happen. But faith changes how I understand what it is that is actually happening.

Our Catholic faith goes deeper than our intellectual understanding. Our faith is not merely a matter of the mind, but a matter of believing in something that is  a mystery but that is greater than ourselves.

I celebrated blessings of my husband and two beautiful girls, my health, my extended family, my friends, having a roof over my head, by belongings, my car, my pet dog, my work etc..

Life is different when viewed through the eyes of faith. My actions and opinions  have been shaped by my faith. I have a heaven perspective and that impinges in all that I do. Sure I have made mistakes, but I know that with God’s grace I am forgiven.

Image result for thank you lord for my birthday images

The way I view marriage, life and death. The way I treat people, the way I have raised our two children, the way I have conducted myself at work has all come from my rooted catholic faith.

Image result for thank you lord for my birthday images

In these dark days for our country, I am increasingly mindful of the wisdom of our church’s social doctrine. Giving to others when it hurts comes from my faith. Helping someone in need comes from my faith. My volunteer work comes from my faith. My view of “Death” is not doom and gloom. “Death” is going to my eternal home where God is awaiting for my arrival in the time of His choosing. God is my Father – my creator. Heaven is where I will meet up with my awaiting family and friends.

I think of people who are dying or who have no faith and what they must be going through during their end of days. How denying God doesn’t deny the truth.

Getting older has its downsides. The doctor prescribes more pills. The knees and the back can’t handle as much time doing work as I once did. Once you get past 45, you know you are more than halfway home.  I know that death is a door, not a wall.

Still, “Life is a banquet, . It is a banquet, and it is filled with foretastes of an even greater, heavenly banquet.  Even in the rough times this past year, I felt that God and His Son Jesus were there to support me and lead me to the best solution that was heavenly possible. Praying to my creator God can direct the paths I take. Praying to my creator God can bestow grace upon me, my family and friends.

On my birthday it was a good day to celebrate with gratitude to my Creator.

Barrack for gospel joy not just a footy team

Image result for the Lord is my shepherd

We seem to get busier and busier as the years go by. I know that from experience, house, cars, careers, family, wealth, technology,  can all get in the way of BUILDING OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. Life’s materialistic things can be a huge distraction!

Most of us think that we have no need for God. That nothing is out of bounds, that if something is there, that if the media says we need it, we should have it.  However, there are things that are not from God, the tempter is out there, trying to deviate us from the truth , from our creator God to prevent us from building a relationship with Him and His Son Jesus Christ.

LIFE SHOULD BE ABOUT BALANCE….. it’s about including God into our everyday,  not making idols our of our footy teams, money, technology, cars or worshiping ourselves etc……..I was told from a very young age that if there is a will there is a way.

Image result for the prodigal son

The gospel does bring me joy. As a parent, the story of the Prodigal Son(The Forgiving Father) Luke 15: 11-32 gave me great comfort, that I didn’t have to do everything on my own, that I can ask God to help me. The gospel of the Lost Sheep Luke 15:4- 6 does remind me that to God I am special, that He will deliver me. The gospel of the Lord is my shepherd, ( Psalm 23) tells me that in my time of darkness God is with me fighting for me.

Some people whom I know have wealth, fame and fortune but are not happy, they are not immune to life’s problems, they seem to have more problems. Things we have made into idols do get in the way of God, do lead us to sin.

Below is a way of looking inwardly and asking ourselves……. are we doing what God would want us to do? Because at the end, all He wants is for us to be united with HIM.

A Self Examination of Conscience – using the 10 Commandments

1. I am the Lord your God. You shall not have strange gods before me.
Have I wanted more things, making things or money more important than God?
Have I made an idol of sports or entertainment figures, etc……?
2. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
Do I use God’s name carelessly?
Do I use God’s name in anger?
3. Remember to keep holy the Lord’s Day.
Did I keep the sabbath holy by going to church?
Did I spend quality time with the family and children?
Have I remembered to pray daily?
4. Honor your father and your mother.
Have I helped my elderly parents without complaining?
Have I done things for them without being reminded?
Have I been disrespectful to others in authority?
5. You shall not kill.
Do I keep my patience or do I lose my temper?
Do I hold grudges and try to get even with others?
Have I been unfair to others, especially those who are different than I am?
6. You shall not commit adultery.
Do I show respect for my body and respect the bodies of others?                                Do I keep my vow of being faithful to my spouse?
7. You shall not steal.
Have I taken something that belongs to someone else?
Have I “forgotten” to return something that I borrowed?
Have I used money responsibly?                                                                                          8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
Do I live fairly or do I cheat to get ahead ?
Have I been honest or have I lied?
Have I hurt someone by what I have said or done or omitted to do?
9. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.
Have I been jealous of the spouse that someone else has?                                                Have I lusted over someone’s spouse?
10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods.
Have I been jealous of the things that my friends have?
Have I compared myself to others, spending money in order keep up with the Jones’?
Have I helped others when they needed help?

DO FACTS MATTER IN THIS WORLD OF IMPERMANENCE?

Related image

It seems to me that more and more, facts don’t matter these days,  but public opinion does, the populist view wants to dominate.

Everyone can have an opinion,  but one that should be informed and researched.

Facts and evidence don’t seem to matter but individual opinion does? I believe that is wrong. Opinions can influence young minds or change them. I believe that if our opinions are going to be given outside the family unit, that we have a responsibility to look at the facts and figures before trying to impart them onto others. What you think and your opinion on the topic is your own.

Empirical evidence is information that verifies what is real and what is really happening. Stats that can help isolate the issues, how to make changes and assist in planning for the future, that is what should matter. When you try to bring facts and evidence to the situation, some people don’t care and try to impose their opinions onto others disregarding any fact or evidence.  Then they give you the labels as being sexist, homophobic xenophobic etc. etc…

In this case below, Judge Jeanine was invited to speak on “”THE VIEW,” she wasn’t allowed to speak because they didn’t agree with her views based and facts, evidence and experience in her court rooms. Judge Jeanine was thrown out. How insular, how disrespectful this whole thing was. Judge Jeanine would have lived experience enforcing the law in her courts yet, she was deemed so evil by the panel that she couldn’t be heard? Just listen to the commentary below.

All individuals act on what is right for them, but then once you start to enforce your opinion onto the mass, then it’s imposing on the other.  This is a real example or relativism. How can that be right for all? It doesn’t work.

If one were to rely on truth and facts more then we could all start to look for solutions based on the evidence.

RELIGION & MY LIFE SERIES- I LIVE BY THE K.I.S.S. PRINCIPLE

Image result for a happy and calm life

We all know what the acronym K.I.S.S. means (Keep It Simple Stupid)  to me it makes a lot of sense. This principle transcends generations and I believe I have learned it from my parents.

Now one might think it would be an easy thing to do, but it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe it gets easier as you start to internalise it and live it, because after a while it becomes natural, automatic. Here’s how I try to live my life and I don’t believe I have F.O.M.O. ( Fear Of Missing Out) either.

Image result for a happy and calm life

Praise & Worship……….I make God and His Son Jesus the centre of my life. I base my life on what Jesus would say, do and think.  I try to look at people the way Jesus would see them. The Lord has made the sabbath, a day of rest…that doesn’t mean I can’t work, if my job requires it. It means to make time for the Lord, communicating and thanking Him for everything in my life. To have quality, family time together. Spend time with my spouse and children, give them my undivided attention, make them feel loved and special.

Family….as a parent I have a responsibility to teach and correct my children. I don’t have to be their best friend but someone who cares enough to tell them of their shortcomings. I have a responsibility to ‘call it out’ when they are wrong without fear of repercussions. I have found that my children respect me anyway because they know that I acted out of love and respect for them. That I only wanted what was best for them and now as adults, they have come to appreciate that more and more. I have also tried to stay as friends with extended family members. Nothing is so bad that it can’t be forgiven, that amends can’t be made.

Image result for jesus the forgiving GOD

Technology…….I minimise the use of  computers and phones when I am with family and friends because I believe if they have made the effort to be with me I owe them my attention and respect and actually talk and communicate with them. My husband and I resisted giving our children technology ie. computers, laptops phones, electronic games etc. till they were well into their teens  and with supervised, limited time. I don’t wait for the latest version of I Phone, I Pad etc.. in technology, I stay with simplicity.

Cars….. I am driving my third Toyota 4 wheel drive Suzuki Grand Vitara which has no fancy gizmos, they are simple, smooth, reliable and never breakdown. The more sophisticated and hi tech the cars, the more likely to breakdown, cause delays and cost more to fix. A reliable, sturdy car for me is best.

Image result for a happy and calm life

Lifestyle……….I try to live by “Kingdom Principles.” I try to live my life for God. Sure I stumble and make mistakes but I pick myself up and keep going, knowing that God is there for me.  Sure friends can affirm me but God validates me not friends. Friends come and go and if they don’t lift me up and celebrate who I am, then I am wasting my time and theirs.

Mealtimes……….are sacred times for my family. From the start, mealtimes have become family time. A time to catch up and listen to each other after a day’s work. So every night we have had dinner together to share. The saying goes that….. “If a family eats together they stay together,” well that couldn’t be truer.

Finances……as a “Kingdom Builder” my money is not my own. It was earned with God’s help. The jobs I have had have been given to me by God. How??? God has aligned people to make it happen for me. So I give to the less fortunate and try to share what I have. i love the principle in there is more pleasure in giving than receiving.  Paying it forward is a great life lesson I have learned and it always comes back to me so I always have more that what I started with.

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP…...is the way to live my life. Giving up is not in my vocabulary. I have never given up and I have learned to be creative and find solutions to my problems….. Ask, Seek, Knock Matthew 7:7-8 says  “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

RELIGION & MY LIFE SERIES-THE WORLD DOESN’T OWE ME ANYTHING

No automatic alt text available.

I write because I don’t believe the world owes me anything. Rather, it becomes a question on how I can contribute to the world’s happiness and success.

  1. My happiness depends on me
  2. My wealth depends on me
  3. Respect depends on me
  4. Trust depends on me
  5. Employment depends on me
  6. My health depends on me
  7. My fitness depends on me

Then I think of JFK’s quote

Image result for jfk quote ask not what your country meaning

If health is on my side I can work and seek work until someone gives me a break. I have prayed in the past and people have come my way and given me a job not because I was the most qualified, but I was told later on by my employer that they felt I would be the most trusted. I didn’t prove them wrong.                    Alternatively, I have created my own work. I put a flyer up at my local shopping centre noticeboard for work. Currently I tutor students one on one.

Respect is to be earned, I treat others like I want to be treated. If I show respect then I demand it back . If others don’t respect me then they are wasting my time and theirs.

Trust is also to be earned, I don’t trust anyone until they have earned my trust. Evil is out there, the enemy preys on the weak and tries to steal your joy like a thief in the night.

Image result for bible, the thief comes only to steal like a thief in the night I try to live by “Kingdom principles.” I believe that the kingdom of God can be amongst us, it’s all about what you project and how you can build God’s Kingdom around you.

One way I do this is by living the truth, the truth according to JESUS CHRIST.

I care very much as to what happens to people and my family esp. my children. I care for my elderly mother. I support my children and advise them when they are wrong, without being afraid of the rebuttals.   I donate to the poor. I volunteer at my local church by teaching students who want to learn about God from non -christian schools. I really enjoy it and I try to make it enjoyable for them as well.

I avoid temptation by not getting myself involved with people or places that might lead to temptation. I love simplicity. I enjoy boundaries and I like living within parameters. I believe in prevention rather than the cure. I also believe that people are flawed including myself. I trust in the Trinity :- FATHER, SON & HOLY SPIRIT AND THAT THEY WILL LEAD ME TO THE TRUTH and they have.

One might think that my life is BORING! No it’s not, my life is great and I owe it all to God. Prayer and surrendering to God, communicating with HIM about my life and  asking for help is exactly what God wants. I give praise to Him and try to live my life accordingly. I keep track as to how God is working in my life by the validation I get from HIM and the way He answers my prayers. I try to have a heaven perspective. Planning not just for this temporary life but for my forever life.

In return, God has blessed my life abundantly. I have always had work, I have always had money in my wallet, I have the respect of my family and friends. I have worked hard and enjoyed living in my own home. I have been on some fantastic holidays. I have had the pleasure of having our children wanting to join us as well, and we have had some great family holidays. Recently my mother turned 80 years of age and three generations all went away celebrating her special day together.

LIFE IS GOOD WHEN YOU GIVE IT ALL TO GOD

Prayer

Dear Father God,

You know us better than anyone else, even ourselves, guide our paths and align them with Yours so that we may grow and learn to become the best versions of ourselves. Send your Holy Spirit to infill us afresh with the gifts of love, patience, kindness and right judgement so as to fulfill your will for us and to make us worthy of heaven. AMEN
