THE SHORT ANSWER TO THAT IS YES!!!! Here’s why?
Many people I speak to say that God is no longer relevant today? I really don’t understand that. What?…has God disappeared? Has God left the heavenlies?
I recently attended a church ”Confirmation” ceremony of around 56 students, 11-12 year olds, their sponsors, siblings with family and extended family members plus the supporting classroom teachers and support staff. All in all the congregation was around 850 people.
The church had beautiful flowers, it was clean and warm inside and everything was prepared efficiently by the teachers and volunteers, so that it would be a reverent and special night for the students and their families.
Now, that would have to be a good thing, yes, of course! But consider this:-people waiting for the ceremony to start in a disorderly and noisy fashion, excessive talking before and after, criticizing and judging what others were wearing, noise during the Mass readings and prayers, children calling out holding up 5, 10, 20 or 50 cent pieces for their parents( the only offering for the offertory, some didn’t even put any.( I saw it clearly because I took the collection and sorted the money and I was counting heads for a church census).
I was really embarrassed, and disturbed that people could show such disrespect and lack of dignity to our Lord Jesus Christ and for the lack of recognition to the priests, bishops and school staff and students who had prepared for this one night.
Churches have to be maintained, heating and cooling has to be provided, the church has to be dressed for the occasion, insurance has to be paid and priests have to live too. I saw little support and recognition from the congregation. I didn’t see any building of the Kingdom either.
People were too preoccupied with themselves, how they looked and the parties they were going to. Actions and words tell a lot about the person, the non-verbals can be stronger than words.
God doesn’t ask much of us. A one hour investment once a week for your future(afterlife) is cheap compared to the trouble some people go to for the quest of that fountain of youth, not to mention the money it costs.
So why am I sharing this? Because I believe that our religious need to be supported now more than ever, they give so much of their time and dedicate their lives for the building of the Kingdom and perhaps some of us don’t even appreciate it nor care. Well, we should care, because we only get one life to live, one life that will determine our final destiny.
Did Jesus not die for humanity? Was Fatima and its message not real?(see previous post). Make no mistake, God is there watching and counting and giving us plenty of opportunities to follow Him. God is our Father and we are His children. We belong to Him whether we believe it or not! At the end, He is the final judge and your life will flash before you and there will be no hiding from the truth. Heaven is real but so is hell. (see visions that the children of Fatima had after seeing hell).
How sad? Are their lives not worth saving? Eternity is an awfully long time. Have they not heard of Sodom and Gomorrah? (Genesis 19: 23-29)
Here’s what the bible says about order and stability.( Excerpts from BIBLE GATEWAYS)
If God, who is the creator of everything, can actually have a relationship with us because of what Jesus did for us, then surely we can find stability in Him. He is the reason we can be stable. He is the One who is at work, at all times, in all circumstances, and never becomes unstable.
- Anxious of your future?
- Thinking our country is headed in the wrong direction?
- Worried about your kids or your family?
- Struggling in your own personal relationships with others?
- Obsessed with the balance of your bank account?
Whatever it is in your life that is leading you to think you are unstable, will never overtake God. While there are difficult circumstances to go through, you can trust in the One who is stable, to lead you through it. The more we can look up to God, and not look to ourselves, the more stable we will become.
Psalm 62:1-2 – For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.
1 Corinthians 15:58 – Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
1 Peter 5:10 – And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
Proverbs 10:9 – Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out.
1 John 2:10 – Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.
Psalm 103:19 – The Lord has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all.
Jude 1:24-25 – Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
