People don’t seem to have that healthy fear of the Lord anymore. There is a wrong type of fear , the one where people think they should be scared because of what God will do. But the right one is the one where people realise that God is the all knowing, all powerful, all intelligent, omnipotent, omnipresent in our everyday life.
In Proverbs 15:33, the fear of the Lord is described as the “discipline” or “instruction” of wisdom, this gift fills us with a sovereign respect for God because we are not equal to Him but below Him.
My fear is the feeling of not being good enough doing what God expects of me or falling into sin, because I wouldn’t want to be without Him in the end.
“The fear of God should have an attitude of respect, a response of reverence and wonder, not one where you put yourself first, failing to acknowledge that God is in control and that He is the one who giveth and that He is the one who taketh, because after all, everything belongs to Him anyway.
A healthy fear of God includes the fear of the consequences of disobedience. Believe it or not there is heaven and there is hell and purgatory in between.

When God created us, He created us to live in a family. Jesus lived with his foster father Joseph and his mother Mary. God never intended for us to live alone.
How do boys learn their masculinity? Boys learn to be boys through their fathers or father figures. How do girls learn their femininity? Girls learn to be girls through their mothers or mother figures. When that fatherly or motherly love is missing that can create a wound in our spirit which can manifest in different ways.

In a recent homily, Pope Francis reminded listeners that practices like yoga aren’t capable of opening our hearts up to God. “You can take a million catechetical courses, a million courses in spirituality, a million courses in yoga, Zen and all these things. But all of this will never be able to give you freedom”, he explained.
However, many people who practice yoga caution that it is often difficult, if not impossible, to separate the exercises from the meditations.
For example, a common mantra repeated in yoga is “So’ham” that roughly translates to “I am the universal self”. This focus on the self is contrary to the focus on God to which we are called. God is the one who frees us from sin, who redeems us, who brings us peace through His son Jesus Christ. We are not one with the universe, the world even though created by God, is imperfect, it has good and evil.

BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD (Psalm 46:10)
The Hebrew definition of being still is to stop striving, to let go, surrender.
How often do we ask God for everything, but we don’t stop to listen or to be still? The act of being still and getting quiet becomes more of a challenge in our hectic world. The world asks us to be busy. God asks us to be still so that we can receive love, peace and guidance.Along with busyness comes the fearful and anxious thoughts we hold onto. It’s been stated that we have upwards of 50,000 thoughts a day.
Quieting the mind, shutting up the mind requires practice. One powerful way to shut up thoughts that don’t serve us is by practicing christian meditation, not yoga but christian meditation.(see previous posts) Meditation helps to renew the mind, to be still, to let go and surrender, to shut up the thoughts that do not serve us.
Silence can cause you to address issues that you might be running from. It’s easy to fill each day with busyness and then block out concerns through hours of mind-numbing television viewing, Internet surfing or reading magazines. None of these activities are bad. However, if they are used to fill a void that is not being filled, over time, the toll will manifest itself in the form of lost relationships, lost opportunities and lost dreams never being fulfilled.
Next time you’re stressed, overburdened and feeling anxious, silence those thoughts by saying, “Peace, be still.” When you need strength and help, let go and rest in God, your refuge. “Be still and know that I am God.”
We can take comfort in slowing down and resting in God to provide help, strength and safety.
I know it’s painful to say goodbye, I know it hurts to never see them again, but if there is faith in your heart you will know that God is taking care of business His way.
We are His children, He is our Father, He created us, He made us, He giveth, He taketh. Holding on to loved ones who are in their final days is not trusting God to take better care of them in death.
Holding on to loved ones means that they will hold on longer because they don’t want to see you grieve and ache for them. Holding on to loved ones means they have to endure more pain. Instead pray that God will take over and look after your loved one and give them new life as Jesus promised He would when He raised Lazarus.
Being an admirer of Jesus means that one’s a fan, you like what He represents but you won’t go the extra mile. A disciple of Jesus will step out in faith, out of their comfort zone and stand up for the truth, even though it might mean being ridiculed.
I’d rather stand with Jesus and be judged by Him than stand with men and be judged by the world.

THE ANSWER IS…………………………………………JESUS CHRIST
In Hebrew the word JESUS means “GOD saves” Jesus saves us from sin because He paid the price of sin on the cross.
In Greek the word “CHRIST’ means “Anointed One”, God chose Jesus Christ and anointed Him to be our saviour and ruler of this world.
The title “SON OF GOD” signifies unique and eternal relationship with God the Father His only Son and Jesus being God Himself.
The title “LORD” indicated sovereignty. To invoke the name Jesus as Lord is to believe in His divinity.
So, if you don’t know what to say especially in time of distress, just call on the name of JESUS CHRIST. The one who saves, the one who loves unconditionally, the one who sacrificed everything, the one who loved you more that His own life, the one who restores, the one who has redeemed us the one who has brought us to new life with God our almighty Father.
PRAYER For you alone are the Holy One. You alone are the Lord. You alone are the most high Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the Father. AMEN
